GAME OF THE WEEK

The No.6 women's rugby team hosts the No.9 McMaster Marauders in the OUA semifinal this weekend at Nixon Field.
The Gaels finished the regular season with a 3-1 record which secured them the second-seed in the Shiels division and a bye through the OUA quarterfinals. Meanwhile, McMaster finished with a 2-2 record and hosted the Laurier Golden Hawks last weekend in the OUA quarterfinals. They earned a berth in the semifinals with a dominant 109-0 win over the second-seed from the Russell division.
The Gaels were victorious over the Marauders earlier this season when they traveled to Hamilton in mid-September and took a 34-14 win.
Sophie de Goede and
Rachel Hickson carried the Gaels to victory as they each had a pair of tries in the road win.

Men's Hockey
The No.6 Queen's men's hockey team (1-0-0) cracked the U SPORTS top ten this week after an overtime win over the No.5 McGill Redmen. It was a picture perfect start to the Gaels season as they took on a bitter OUA East rival and escaped Montreal with a 2-1 road victory.
Justin Fazio made 32 saves in net, while
Duncan Campbell scored the overtime winner.
Now they turn their attention to the week ahead for a pair of games which include their home-opener.
First, the Gaels will host the cross-town rival RMC Paladins (1-0-0) who were also victorious in their season-opening game. They took down the No.10 Concordia Stingers 2-1 on home ice and will look to carry that momentum into the Memorial Centre on Wednesday night. The Gaels were 3-0 and last season against RMC however, the Paladins played them tough as two of the final scores were separated by just a single goal (5-4, 6-5).
Game time is set for 7:30pm on October 10 at the Memorial Centre. Tickets are available at gogaelsgo.com/tickets or you can catch the action live on OUA.tv.
Then, on Friday the Gaels will be back on the road as they take on the UOIT Ridgebacks (2-0-0) from the Campus Ice Centre in Oshawa. The Ridgebacks are off to a hot start to their season as they picked up a pair of 5-2 wins on the road against Laurentian and Nipissing. That game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.
Women's Hockey
The Queen's women's hockey team will finally get their regular season underway as they look to build upon their OUA silver medal and U SPORTS Championship appearance last season. The Gaels will look to duplicate their start from last season where they won 11 of their first 12 games of the season.
Their season-opener will be at the Memorial Centre as they take on the Laurentian Voyaguers who finished with a 9-1-11-3 record last season. The two teams split their season series last year after the Gaels took a 4-3 overtime win in November but then suffered one of their three regulation losses as they fell 5-2 on the road in January.
Game time is set for Friday, October 12 at 7:30pm at the Memorial Centre. Tickets are available at gogaelsgo.com/tickets or you can catch the action live on OUA.tv.
The following night, the Gaels will host the No.10 Nipissing Lakers in what should be a must-see matchup. Last season the Gaels swept the Lakers in the OUA semifinals. After stealing a 3-2 overtime win on the road, the Gaels returned home for game two and were propelled by two first period goals to secure the series win.
Game time is set for Saturday, October 13 at 7:30pm at the Memorial Centre. Tickets are available at gogaelsgo.com/tickets or you can catch the action live on OUA.tv.
A full team preview will be posted within the coming days.

The men's rugby team (6-0) will look to continue their historic undefeated run as they head out for their second consecutive road game. After a 64-14 win at RMC last weekend, the Gaels will battle the Western Mustangs (2-4) in London on Saturday afternoon.
Last weekend, the Gaels took a narrow 19-14 advantage into halftime, but a dominant second half led to the Gaels blowout win. The Gaels currently have four players in the OUA's top ten scoring leaders with
Dylan Young leading the pack with 72 points.
Meanwhile, the Western Mustangs have struggled this season as they've been outscored 157-68 in their four losses this season.
Game time is set for 3pm on Saturday, October 13 from London.

Nathan Dehghan who finished 22
nd, 26

th individually.
Meanwhile on the women's side

Women's Soccer
The No.8 women's soccer team (8-2-2) will look to continue their recent hot streak which includes three wins and a tie in the past four games. However, they'll have to do so on the road as they head north for meetings with Laurentian and Nipissing.
On Saturday, October 13 the Gaels will take on the Laurentian Voyaguers (3-6-3) at 12pm. These two teams met in early September at Miklas-McCarney Field as the Gaels came away with a 4-1 win to cap off a 2-0 start to their season. Four different Gaels found the back of the net as the Gaels threw 15 shots on net.
Then on Sunday, the Gaels will take on the Nipissing Lakers (6-3-3) at 12pm. The Gaels opened their season at Richardson Stadium with a 4-2 win over the Lakers earlier this year.
Jenny Wolever shined as she recorded a hat-trick to get the Gaels off on the right foot. Wolever was recently named the OUA's female athlete of the week as she looks to continue her dominance over the upcoming weekend.
Men's Soccer
The men's soccer team (6-5-1) play in a very important weekend in terms of playoff implications. The Gaels have hit a rough patch as they've been winless in their past four games which has allowed the two teams they will play this weekend, Laurentian and Nipissing, to make up ground in the standings.
On Saturday, October 13 the Gaels will take on the Laurentian Voyaguers (4-7-1) in Sudbury at 2:15pm. With just a six point cushion for the fourth-seed in the OUA East, there is a lot on the line when the two teams clash on Saturday. In their earlier matchup this season the Gaels were aided by goals from
Brevin MacKay and
Keven Mastri who led the way in a 2-0 shutout.
Alex Jones only needed to make three saves to record the clean sheet.
Then on Sunday, the Gaels face the Nipissing Lakers (5-6-1). Heading into the weekend, the Gaels have a 3-point cushion over Nipissing meaning that Sunday's game could determine who will hold on to the fourth-seed with just two games remaining afterwards. The Lakers have struggled offensively with 16 goals in 12 games. Meanwhile, the Gaels have had recent issues offensively, putting in just four goals in the past four games despite averaging two goals per game over the season.
Women's Volleyball
The Gaels will get their final preseason games in this weekend before getting the season started on October 27.
They will head across the country to Vancouver, British Columbia for three exhibition games against the Trinity Western Spartans, UBC Thunderbirds and Thompson Rivers Wolfpack from Thursday until Saturday.
