The No.6 women's soccer team hits the road for the first time this season with a pair of 1pm games at UOIT (2-1-1) on Saturday and at Trent (0-4) on Sunday.

Last weekend, Queen's went 2-0 in their season opening weekend at home, beating Nipissing 2-1 before shutting out Laurentian 2-0. Jenny Wolever (Toronto) scored in both games for the Gaels, and picked up an assist against Laurentian.

In 2015, the Gaels didn't manage to score on the UOIT Ridgebacks, who finished third in the OUA East standings. When the two teams met last year, the Ridgebacks were 1-0 winners in the first matchup, followed by a 0-0 draw. This season, Cassandra Sribny and rookie Rhiannon Kissel are the players to watch for UOIT with three goals each already. Both players recorded goals in their wins last weekend at Ryerson and Toronto.

Queen's picked up a pair of victories against a winless Trent Excalibur team last year in 3-1 and 4-1 affairs. Although her team is yet to earn a win this season, Katilyn Steffler has all scored all three goals for Trent through their opening four games, two of which came last weekend in losses at Toronto and Ryerson.

MEN'S SOCCER

In addition to recording one assist, Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa) scored once against Nipissing and netted the tying and game-winning goals against Laurentian to bring his weekend total to three goals.

The UOIT Ridgebacks and Queen's met twice last year during the regular season, when the Gaels picked up a pair of 1-0 wins. The Gaels also bested the Ridgebacks 2-1 in the first round of the OUA playoffs. UOIT picked up their best result of the 2016 season with a 1-1 tie on Sunday at Toronto. Fabio Campoli has the only two goals for the Ridgebacks so far this year.

Queen's netted four goals in both wins over Trent in 2015, with 4-1 and 4-2 victories over the Excalibur. So far this season, Trent has been shutout in all three losses, where their keeper David Ellis has faced 21 shots.
