KINGSTON, Ont. (November 11, 2016) - In a special 12:30pm start time for Remembrance day, the Queen's Gaels (4-0-5-0) were defeated 3-1 by the visiting UOIT Ridgebacks (3-0-3-2) in OUA women's hockey action at the Kingston Memorial Centre.
Both teams paid tribute for Remembrance Day prior to puck drop with a moment of silence followed by the Canadian national anthem.

GAMEFLOW
The first period was very even, with a number of scoring chances in both ends of the rink. Queen's was first to get on the scoreboard in the ninth minute.
Hailey Wilson (Pickering, Ont.) scored for the Gaels on a perfectly placed snapshot. After collecting the puck at the right of the slot Wilson spun and fired a backhand, the puck then bounced around and landed on her stick where she made the second chance count.
Jessica Wakefield (Lucan, Ont.) and
Mackenzie Stamper (Oakville, Ont.) assisted on the goal. This proved to be the only goal of the period. The Gaels outshot the Ridgebacks 11-6, at the end of the first frame.

In the second, the Ridgebacks took the momentum. In the eighth minute, Kassidy Nauboris scored for the Ridgebacks, knocking in a rebound through the legs of Gaels starting netminder
Stephanie Pascal (Sudbury, Ont.). Mikaeli Cavell and Sam Forchielli assisted on the play. The rest of the period was once again very even, with a number of close chances. However, the game remained 1-1 at the end of the period.

In the third period, the Ridegebacks took the lead. Nauboris scored her second goal of the game on a backhand deke on the power play. Her patience in close was a difference maker and Mikaeli Cavell picked up the lone assist. The Gaels had a number of chances, but were unable to get back on the scoreboard. After the Gaels pulled their goalie in the last minute, Nicole Zabel scored an empty net goal to give the Ridgebacks a 3-1 final.
