Women's Rugby Playoffs
The No.7 Gaels head hit the road this weekend for a semi-final showdown with the No.2 Guelph Gryphons on Saturday at 1pm.

Queen's is coming off their second straight win against York, defeating the Lions 60-7 on Homecoming. Miranda Seifert (Regina) and Nadia Popov (Newmarket, Ont.) led the Gaels to victory last weekend, scoring 15 and 20 points, respectively. Popov and Seifert finished eighth and ninth in OUA scoring during the regular season, thanks to a five-try performance from Seifert in the regular season finale against York two weeks ago.

Guelph steamrolled their quarter-final opponents, the Waterloo Warriors, last weekend in a 132-0 shutout win. 15 Gryphons got into the try zone on the day, led by Alexandra King's three try, four conversion performance. Julie Schell, the OUA points leader through the regular season, scored two tries and three conversions.

When the Gaels and Gryphons met during the regular season, Guelph came out on top 50-5, with Lauren Murray (Lindsay, Ont.) scoring the only try for Queen's.

Men's Rugby
The Gaels men's rugby team (5-1-1) plays their regular season finale on the road against their Kingston rivals, the RMC Paladins (4-3).

Queen's is riding a five game unbeaten streak, most recently winning 43-21 on Homecoming against the Brock Badgers. The Gaels scored 19 unanswered points in the second half to blow the game open last weekend, thanks in large part to Alex Colbourne's (London) two tries and four conversions. The tricolour were missing stars Kainoa Lloyd (Mississauga, Ont.) and Lucas Rumball (Toronto) last weekend, because they had been called up to the Canada 'A' team to play at the Americas Pacific Challenge in Uruguay.

RMC has strung together four wins of their own after starting the year with three consecutive losses. Last weekend, the Paladins hosted Trent and came away with a 22-7 victory. Matthew Courtney leads the RMC offence and is fourth in OUA scoring with 49 points on two tries, 12 conversions, four penalty goals, and one drop goal.

Women's Soccer
The women's soccer team (9-4-1) is looking to secure a bye through the first round of the playoffs as they head to Nipissing (4-7-3) on Saturday and Laurentian (8-5-1) on Sunday to finish the OUA regular season.

Queen's dropped a close game to No.3 UOIT 2-1 last weekend after Tara Bartram (North Vancouver, B.C.) scored early to put the Gaels up 1-0. The tricolour responded in their final home game of the regular season in a big way, blanking Trent 9-0. Bartram had a hat-trick against the Excalibur, scoring the first two goals of the first half as well as the opening goal of the second half. The Queen's striker added an assist to finish the weekend with five points.

Nipissing did Queen's a favour and beat Ottawa 2-1 last weekend before settling for a 2-2 tie against Carleton. Delaney Borsato scored her first goal of the season to put the Lakers up 1-0 just before halftime, and Kristen Farkas buried her second of the year to win it with four minutes remaining.

Laurentian sits three points behind Queen's in the OUA standings after a scoreless tie with Carleton and a 2-1 win against Ottawa last weekend. Sarah Stanford scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season five minutes into the contest to put the Lakers up early, followed by Brianne Rodrigue's third goal of the year for an insurance marker against Ottawa.

The Gaels sit two points behind Ottawa (9-2-3) in the standings, and need to pass the Gee-Gees to earn a bye through the first round of the playoffs.

Men's Soccer
Home field advantage is on the line as the Queen's men's soccer team (5-5-4) finishes their regular season at Nipissing (1-10-3) on Saturday and Laurentian (5-7-2) on Sunday.

The Gaels tied UOIT 5-5 on Friday night before falling 2-1 to Trent last weekend. Queen's needed every second the game against UOIT to come from behind and earn the tie. Trailing 5-3 after UOIT scored a third unanswered goal late in the game, Jacob Schroeter (Ottawa) scored his second of the game as stoppage time began to cut the deficit to just one goal. With virtually no time on the clock, Sam Abernethy (Halifax, N.S.) scored his second of the year to draw even in the match and earn a point in the standings.

Nipissing earned points in the standings for the fourth time this year after a 1-1 tie against Carleton last weekend. Alexander Zero scored his first goal at the OUA level in the tie. The Lakers also suffered a 3-1 loss to Ryerson last weekend, in which Cody Vaillancourt tied for the team lead with his third goal of the season.

Laurentian is just two points behind Queen's in the standings heading into the last weekend of the regular season. The Voyageurs suffered a pair of defeats last weekend to Carleton and Toronto, giving up four goals in each game. The team leader in points this season, Matthew Wilkes scored his seventh goal of the year to open the scoring against Carleton before the Ravens answered with four goals of their own.

Queen's needs to beat Laurentian to ensure home field advantage in the first round of the OUA playoffs, which will go Wednesday, October 26.

Women's Hockey
The women's hockey team (1-0-1-0) hit the road for the first time this season, heading out to play the Laurier Golden Hawks (0-0-0-1) and Waterloo Warriors (0-1-1-0) on Friday and Saturday night, respectively. Puck drop for both games will be at 7:30pm.

Queen's opened their season on Homecoming weekend, falling 5-2 to Nipissing before shutting out York 3-0. In the win against the Lions, last year's Gaels leading scorer and OUA Rookie of the Year, Katrina Manoukarakis (Scarborough, Ont.) scored a pair of goals, including a high-light reel goal into the top corner on a great pass from Emily Jukosky (Stirling, Ont.). Stephanie Pascal (Val Caron, Ont.) earned the shutout in her first start of the year.

Laurier dropped their season opener 3-2 to Waterloo in overtime. Jessica Prevette picked up two points in the loss, scoring short-handed to open the scoring before assisting on the other Golden Hawks goal. As the busier of the two goaltenders, Lauren Webber stopped 31 shots Waterloo sent her way.

Waterloo opened their season with 2-0 loss at home to Toronto before picking up the 3-2 overtime win at Laurier. Angela MacDonald was the overtime hero for the Warriors, scoring her second power-play goal of the game in the final seconds of the first overtime period. Marissa Redmond and Rachel Marriott also had multi-point nights for Waterloo, while Taylor Reimer made 20 saves in the win.

Men's Hockey
On the road for the first time this season, the Queen's men's hockey team will head North this weekend for a game at Laurentian (1-2-1) on Friday night and at Nipissing (1-2-1) on Saturday night. Game times are 7:35pm and 7:15pm, respectively.

Regulation solved nothing last weekend when Queen's hosted Nipissing, with the game tied 3-3 thanks to a Gaels last-minute goal from Eric Ming (Williamstown, Ont.). The tricolour went on to fall 4-3 in double overtime, with Ming, Dylan Anderson (Greely, Ont.), and Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.) recording the goals. Ming and Doggett remain tied in the points race with six apiece this season, tied for third in the OUA.

Laurentian earned their first points of the season in a 5-4 overtime loss to UOIT before getting one in the win column with a 3-1 contest at RMC. Christopher Smith had a pair of goals against UOIT, including the one to send it to overtime with 1:30 left on the clock. Nick Esposto also had two goals last weekend, scoring in both games.

Both Nipissing games last weekend required double overtime, with the Lakers coming out on top against Queen's before falling 4-3 to UOIT. Jimmy McDowell had a night to remember against the Gaels, finishing his first career hat-trick with a double overtime winner. Erik Robichaud leads the team with four points after a goal against UOIT and two assists against Queen's.
