Gaels season comes to an end with a 39-8 lost to Carleton in the OUA Quarter-Final Playoffs

KINGSTON, ON (October 31, 2015) - The Gaels season comes to an end with a 39-8 lost to No.10 Carleton Ravens in the OUA Quarter-Final Playoff game at Richardson Stadium.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels started the game with possession but was unable to attain a first down during their first drive. The Ravens safety Tunde Adeleke had a great punt return to midfield to give Carleton good field position to start their first drive. Carleton drove down the field with their opening possession with ended with a rushing touchdown from Jahvari Bennett to give the Ravens an early 7-0 lead. On the returning kickoff Gaels receiver Chris Osei-Kusi (Brampton, Ont.) fumbled the ball at the end of a good run which gave Carleton the ball back in Queen's territory. The Ravens were not able to capitalize on the turnover as they went three and out. Queen's offence continued to struggle early on with another three and out. On the Ravens next offensive possession they doubled their lead with a passing touchdown to Wilson Birch to give them a 14-0 lead in the middle of the 1st quarter. The story of the 1st quarter for the Gaels was efficiency on offence as they were only able to get one first down. Carleton's offence continued their impressive play late in the quarter when they completed another touchdown pass to Nate Behar to build the Ravens lead to 21-0.

In the second quarter the Gaels defence began to come alive as they started to get pressure on the Ravens offence. Queen's offence was not able to gain any rhythm during the first half, as they committed multiple penalties. The Gaels' struggles continued throughout the half when Nate Hobbs (Mississauga, Ont.) fumbled the ball off a big hit with the Ravens recovering it inside the Gaels half. Carleton was unable to capitalize on the turnover and punted the ball inside the Queen's 1-yard line. The next drive for the Gaels offence began to click when Curtis Carmichael (Scarborough, Ont.) had an outstanding sideline catch to get the Gaels out of their own red zone but the drive ended in a failed third down conversion to give the Ravens the ball back at midfield. Carleton's offence had another good drive that ended in a rushing touchdown from Christian Batistelli to give the Ravens a 29-0 lead late in the first half.

In the second half the game was put out of reach with the Gaels offence not being able to make a comeback attempt. The Ravens continued their overall strong performance on both sides of the ball throughout the second half. The Gaels got a late fourth quarter touchdown from Doug Corby (Burlington, Ont.)  but it was too late for Queen's as they game ended with a 39-8 final.

With the win Carleton will head to face No. 6 Guelph next weekend in the OUA Semifinals.
