KINGSTON, Ont. (October 2, 2015) - The Queen's men's volleyball team welcomes the Ryerson Rams, Guelph Gryphons and Montreal Carabins to the ARC this weekend in their annual invitational exhibition tournament.
Day 3Guelph vs. MontrealThe Carabins wrapped up their weekend against the Gryphons with a 3-1 win, putting them at a 2-1 record just behind the Gaels in the tournament. The Gryphons ended their weekend with a 1-2 record.

The Carabins set the pace in the first set, putting up a 25-20 win over Guelph. In the second the Gryphons put themselves on the board with a 25-23 win, tying it all up at 1-1. The Carabins finished it quickly then with a 25-22 win in the third and a 25-21 win the final set.

Queen's vs. RyersonÂ
The Gaels finished off their annual invitational with a 3-0 record after winning 3-1 against the Ryerson Rams who finished their weekend with an 0-3 record.

Trence with his 12 kills and Tomlinson with his 10 kills in the game, led the Gaels as they had all weekend. Despite their loss, Ryerson had a strong showing from Robert Worjcik who topped the charts with 17 kills and nine digs.

The Rams were off to a good start in their final game of the tournament grabbing a 25-21 win over the Gaels in the first set. The Gaels didn't let the Rams get comfortable and returned by winning the next three sets 25-19, 25-19 and 26-24.
With this win the Gaels finished at the top of the tournament pool followed by Montreal (2-1), Guelph (1-2) and Ryerson (3-0). This marks the second straight year that Queen's has been tournament champions.
Day 2Guelph vs. RyersonIt was the tightest game of the tournament between the Rams and the Gryphons on Saturday with Guelph grabbing the 3-2 win bringing their record up to 1-1 and dropping Ryerson down to 0-2.
Led by Zachary Newman and Dallas Keith who racked up 10 digs each in the game, the Gryphons took the first set 25-21. The Rams answered immediately, winning the second set 25-19 and letting their momentum carry them into winning the third set 25-18 to put them ahead of the Gryphons two sets to one.
Guelph pulled out all the stops in the third set, increasing their percentage to a game high 0.632 and tying the match 2-2 with a 25-19 win. In the fifth and deciding set, the Rams fought to clinch the victory but the Gryphons managed to wrap it up 16-14.
Queen's vs. MontrealThe Gaels pumped out another 3-1 win on Saturday, this time against the Montreal Carabins (1-1) which puts Queen's at the top of the tournament pool with their 2-0 record.  With his 19 kills
Marko Dakic (Mississauga, Ont.) was key player for the Gaels in their win.
The Gaels picked up the two firsts sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-22 respectively. In the third the Carabins clawed their way back into the game and won the set 25-20. Queen's answered with a 25-20 win in the fourth, giving them their second win of the tournament.
Day 1Montreal vs. RyersonThe Carabins (1-0) opened their weekend with a 3-1 win over the Ryerson Rams (0-1) in the Queen's Invitational. Robert Worjcik was a top performer for the Rams, racking up 19 kills and seven digs against the Carabins.
The teams had matching first sets with the Carabins grabbing 25-18 wins each time. The Rams picked up their game in the third set and flipped the score winning the set 25-18 over the Carabins. Montreal didn't let the Rams get comfortable and shut it down in the fourth and final set winning it 25-14, the greatest margin of the game. With the 3-1 win, the Carabins will continue their weekend on Saturday against Queen's at 8:00 pm. The Rams will be facing the Guelph Gryphons at 6:00 pm tomorrow.
Queen's vs GuelphThe Gaels (1-0) hit off their weekend Invitational with a 3-1 win over the Guelph Gryphons (0-1) Friday night.
Markus Trence (Orangeville, Ont.) was a top scorer for the Gaels with 17 kills and nine digs while
Mike Tomlinson (Stratford, Ont.) picked up a matching 14 kills and 14 digs in the win.
The Gaels dominated in the first set grabbing a 25-19 win over the Gryphons. The rest of the game was tight with the Gryphons pulling ahead and winning the second 25-23. The Gaels regained their momentum in the third set and were able to win it 25-23 with Guelph close behind. The final frame was another close call with the Gaels finding themselves on top again and winning the game with the 25-21 final set.
The Gaels will head into Day 2 of the tournament with a 1-0 record planning on meeting Montreal, also with a 1-0 record, at 8:00 pm. The Gryphons are scheduled to play the Ryerson Rams (0-1) at 6:00 pm.Â
