Football introduces seven recruits

KINGSTON, Ont. (March 19, 2014) - Queen's football head coach Pat Sheahan is pleased to announce the signing of seven top recruits to the Gaels football program.

Joining Queen's are offensive lineman Cameron Fischl (Kanata, Ont.), linebacker Donovan Hillary (Winnipeg), linebacker  Michael Moore (Mississauga, Ont.), linebacker D'Antal Sampson (Mississauga, Ont), defensive back Jason Shamatutu (Coquitlam, B.C.), defensive end Carson O'Sullivan (Pickering, Ont.) and defensive lineman Avery Baker (Oshawa, Ont.).

"I am delighted that we could bring this group together," said head coach Pat Sheahan as the players were introduced. "It's another great day for Queen's and the football program as we welcome seven new members into the fold."

The Queen's football Gaels begin their regular season on the road when they take on the Windsor Lancers on Monday September 1, 2014. The Gaels then open up their home schedule on Saturday September 6 against the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 1:00 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.

Awards and achievements: Team captain with Kanata Knights of NCAFA midget football league in 2013... Played with Bell Warriors previously.
DONOVAN HILLARY // LB

Weight: 220 lbs
School: River East CI
Awards and achievements: Defensive End for Team Manitoba U18 that competed at 2013 Canada Cup in Mocton... Provincial All-Star... Led Manitoba high school defenders with 96 tackles in 2013.
MICHAEL MOORE // LB
Hometown: Mississauga, Ont.  
Program: Arts
Height: 6'1       
Weight: 230 lbs
School: St. Michael's College School/Phillips Academy
Awards and achievements: Linebacker at St. Michael's before attending Phillips Andover in 2013-14.
D'ANTAL SAMPSON // LB
Hometown: Mississauga, Ont.  
Program: Arts
Height: 5'10       
Weight: 215 lbs
School: Lorne Park Secondary
Awards and achievements: Peel Country HS Champion... National Capital Bowl Champion defeating Frontenac Falcons in 2013... Joins fellow Lorne Park grad Jesse Topley on Queen's defense

Awards and achievements: Two-way player for coach Tom Kudaba at Terry Fox Secondary... Selected to BC U18 all-star team that competed agianst USA and Europe over 2013 holiday break

Awards and achievements: Coached by former Alouette defensive lineman Gordie Judges... Tallest Queen's recruit in 2014 class.

AVERY BAKER // DL
Hometown: Oshawa, Ont.  
Program: Engineering/Science
Height: 6'3       
Weight: 290 lbs
School: Salisbury
Awards and achievements: Plays for Salisbury School Crimson Knights Football in Connecticut... Represented Ontario at 2013 Football Canada Cup
