The Queen's Gaels are in action on numerous fronts this week. Here's a rundown of when and where to catch your Gaels in action including the games of the week featuring the women's and men's basketball teams Friday night.
Games of the week
Men's and Women's Basketball: The Gaels basketball games against McMaster Friday night and Brock Saturday night are the games of the week. The women play at 6pm, with the men to follow at 8pm. On the women's side, the 3-3 Gaels have two tough games against 4-1 McMaster and No. 10 Brock (3-2), both of whom are fresh off their first losses of the season. The men (4-2) are up against two below .500 teams, with McMaster sitting 2-3 and Brock a winless 0-5. All four games will be in the main gym of the ARC. You can watch these games live on
Men's Hockey: The Gaels host back-to-back nights against No. 7 Windsor this weekend, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm at the Memorial Centre. The men's hockey team continues their season-long point-streak, with zero regulation losses so far this year and a 6-0-5 record—good enough for first (tie) in the OUA East. Windsor sits in second of the OUA West with their 9-2 record. Queen's goalie
Women's Hockey: Coming off their first regulation loss of the season last weekend, the No. 3 women's hockey team is on the road again to take on Laurentian on Saturday at 3:45pm and Nipissing at 2pm on Sunday. The Gaels (9-1-3) are first in the OUA, and have four OUA top-ten scorers: Shawna Griffin (Redwood Meadows, Alta.) in fourth with 17 points, Morgan McHaffie (Guelph, Ont.) in sixth with 16 points, and Clare McKellar (London, Ont.) and Taryn Pilon (Peterborough, Ont.) tied in eighth with 14 points apiece. Laurentian is 9th in the standings at 5-7, and Nipissing sits in 11th at 4-8.
Women's Volleyball: Queen's is on the road to play Ryerson Friday at 6pm and Toronto at 8pm on Saturday. Ryerson (5-3) and Toronto (6-2) sit just ahead of the Gaels (4-2) in the OUA East standings. Kelsey Bishop (North Vancouver) is the team's top point-getter, sitting fourth in the OUA with four points per set, and is also fourth in blocks per set with 0.81. The Gaels are led on defense by Brett Hagarty (Aurora, Ont.), who is sixth in the OUA with 3.86 digs per set.
Men's Volleyball: The men's volleyball team is looking to rebound after a pair of straight-set losses last weekend with matches Friday against Ryerson at 8pm and Saturday against Toronto at 6pm. Leader of the Gaels defense, Ivo Dramov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) is recording 2.83 digs per set, good for third in the OUA. Philippe Goyer (Ottawa) leads the Gaels offense, sitting fourth in the OUA with 4.07 points per set. The Gaels (3-3) are chasing 5-3 Ryerson in the standings, while Toronto (2-6) sits just behind Queen's.
