KINGSTON, Ont. – Alyn McCauley, a former Gaels hockey assistant coach, will soon find his name engraved on hockey's holy grail.
McCauley, who was an assistant coach for the Gaels in 2008-09, has been a pro scout for the Los Angeles Kings since 2009. The former Kingston Township Voyageur played 488 NHL games in a career that spanned nine seasons and included time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, San Jose Sharks, as well as both of this year's Stanley Cup finalists: the New Jersey Devils and the Kings.
"On behalf of the Men's Hockey team at Queen's, we would like to congratulate Alyn on raising the Stanley Cup. His vision and fingerprints are still very much a part of the everyday operations of our hockey team. We wish him continued success as he continues to make his mark in the National Hockey League,” said
Brett Gibson, the Queen's men's hockey head coach.
McCauley's Kings won the Stanley Cup on Monday night, after defeating the Devils in six games.
The 2012-13 edition of the Gaels hockey team will open their season on September 15, in McCauley's home town of Gananoque, against the RMC Paladins.
