KINGSTON, Ont. – The Queens Gaels men's volleyball team (2-1) put in a strong showing at home against the Ryerson Rams, winning in straight sets, 25-20, 25-22, 25-20, in OUA regular season play.
The Gaels came out strong in the first set, and had some help with many Ryerson service and attacking errors.
Tyler Scheerhoorn (Belleville, Ont.) lead the way in the first set for the Gaels with three kills and two digs.
Queen's put in a dominating effort in the second and third sets to seal their second win in the regular season. Outside hitter
Philippe Goyer (Ottawa, Ont.) was the game leader with 12 kills on 24 attacks.
Jacob Glantz was noteworthy for the Gaels with 7 digs. The Rams did not go down without a fight and were lead by some impressive offensive efforts from outside-hitter Robert Wojcik (Whibty, Ont.) who put up 10 kills and two digs. Goyer finished out the match with a strong kill that really summed up how the Gaels played throughout their straight set victory.
The Gaels next OUA match-up is Sunday, when they host the Toronto Varsity Blues. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at the ARC Main Gym.
