KINGSTON, Ont. - Liam Underwood of the Queen's Gaels men's rugby team has been named the Ontario University Athletics Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending November 11, 2012. The league office in Hamilton made the announcement on Monday.
 
This is the first career win for the Toronto native, and he is the second Gael this season to win provincial Athlete of the Week honours, following Jackie Tessier, who won on October 1.
 
Underwood, a third-year fly half, was the Man of the Match as the Gaels defeated Western 29-18 in Sunday's OUA Championship game, giving the Gaels the Turner Trophy for the 18th time in their history. Underwood controlled play throughout the game for the Gaels, and accounted for 14 of the Gaels' 29 points as he made three of four convert attempts, a penalty goal, and a 65th-minute try that sealed the victory for Queen's.
