KINGSTON, Ont. (June 23, 2010) – Women's basketball head coach Dave Wilson announced today the commitment of Meaghan MacDougall of Martintown, Ont., for the 2010-11 season.

MacDougall, a 5'9 guard, transfers to Queen's after spending last season with the NCAA Division I Indiana State Sycamores.

Prior to joining the Sycamores, MacDougall starred at Char-Lan District High School outside of Cornwall, Ont., where she was twice named the Female Athlete of the Year (2008, 2009). Aside from basketball, MacDougall also played soccer, hockey, track & field, cross country, volleyball, badminton, golf and curling during her time at Char-Lan.

On the court, Wilson describes MacDougall as a very quick athlete who is an excellent three-point shooter that can also drive the bucket. She also has the ability to run a team's offence as she has terrific ball-handling and passing skills.

“Meaghan is an athlete that we recruited very heavily two seasons ago,” commented Wilson. “Her decision to come back to Canada and ply her skills at Queen's instantly improves our lineup for the upcoming season.”

Fans will have their first opportunity to watch the Gaels revamped lineup on Labour Day weekend when Queen's hosts Waynesburg University on Sunday, September 5 at 2:00 pm. The Gaels open their 2010-11 regular season with a matchup against the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday, November 5.
