KINGSTON, Ont. (February 6, 2010) - Kelsey Thompson of Martintown, Ont., had two goals and an assist leading the Queen's Gaels women's hockey team to a 3-0 victory over the Windsor Lancers Saturday afternoon.

After a quiet first period, Thompson helped set up the first goal of the game by Ottawa's Megan McNutt 5:11 into the second period. Thompson then netted her first of the game 11:27 into the second on the powerplay putting the Gaels up 2-0. Just under six minutes later, Thompson scored her second of the game and 14th of the season at 17:10 of the second to close out the Gaels scoring for the afternoon.

McNutt's goal was her third of the season and she added a helper on Thompson's second goal. Michelle Hunt of Mississauga, Ont., assisted twice leading to the Gaels victory.

The Gaels were relentless in the offensive end outshooting the Lancers 15-8 and 20-10 in the first and second period respectively. In total, the Gaels amassed 52 shots keeping Lancer goalie Jamie Tessier of Copper Cliff, Ont., very busy.

Queen's solid offensive performance was coupled with another great performance in net by Mel Dodd-Moher of Stittsville, Ont. Dodd-Moher put up a wall against the Lancers shooters stopping all 31 shots she faced for her 12th win of the season.

With their third straight victory, the Gaels overall record is 17-5-2. Their 36 points has them second in the OUA standings, three points ahead of the York Lions who sit at 16-7-1. The Gaels still sit eight points back of the undefeated Laurier Golden Hawks who have two games in hand.

Queen's will look to continue their winning streak tomorrow against London, Ontario's Western Mustangs who currently sit in 7th place in the OUA standings. The Gaels will look to take their season series against the Mustangs. Western took the first game 4-3 in a shootout in late October, while Queen's countered with a 5-1 victory on November 22nd. Puck drop is set for 2:30 pm at the Memorial Centre.
