Kristin Smith of Toronto, extended the Gaels lead mid-way through the second, scoring a short-handed goal off a Varsity Blues give-a-way.

Stacey Oue of Scarborough, Ont., scored the  Blues lone goal at the 15:54 mark of the second to pull Toronto within two heading into the third.

In the third period, Toronto found themselves in the penalty box four more time, leading to two more Queen's powerplay goals.

Second year defencemen Shelby Aitcheson of London, Ont., notched her first ever Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) goal to give the Gaels the 4-1 lead and Amanda Morra of Pickering, Ont., netted the fifth and final goal.

Despite leading in penalties, Toronto managed to out shoot the Gaels 36-24. Melissa John of Unionville, Ont., stood tall in net for the Gaels stopping 11 shots in the third and 33 overall.

With the victory Queen's split the weekend series with the Varsity Blues. Toronto took Saturday's match  3-2 with a late third-period goal.
