Kingston, Ont.,(February 1, 2009) - Three goals in the final period lifts the Queen's women's hockey team over the No. 5 nationally ranked Guelph Gryphons 3-1 Sunday afternoon.

After two scoreless periods, captain Cassandra Sparks of Stouffville, Ont., notched her seventh goal of the season at the 7:02 mark of the third period, flipping the puck over Gryphons netminder Chelsey Roy of Bathurst, N.B., to open the scoring.

Guelph found the net four minutes later off the stick of Sarah McClinchey of Brampton, Ont., ending Gaels rookie netminder Karissa Savage of Calgary shutout streak at 108 minutes.
