2009 Goosebowl Recap

| By:
Goosebowl 2009 was a success, bringing in 12 teams ranging from Guelph to Peterborough to Montreal.

Saturday morning opened with terrible weather, but the teams met on the fields of QECVI ready anyway -- and through the pouring rain, they fought. There were three pools on Saturday, and MONSTER from Toronto, DOA from Guelph, and The Rogues, from various locales, were the pool winners, securing first round byes on Sunday.

The weather cleared up considerably for Sundays games, and the consolation games were played out in full. The aforementioned MONSTER, a club mixed team out of Toronto that had participated in the fall UPA series in the US, took on DOA, a mixed team comprised of Guelph's university teams, in the finals. After MONSTER jumped out to a big lead, DOA tried to battle back but it was too little, too late as MONSTER secured the 2009 Goosebowl championship!

The Rogues defeated Pajama Party (from Toronto) in the 3rd place game, and Queen's defeated Team Ninja (from Peterborough) in the 5th place game.
