BRAMPTON, Ont. (October 15, 2018) – The Queen's ultimate teams made their way to Brampton this past weekend to compete in the 2018 Canadian University Ultimate Championships. Both the men's and women's team found a place on the podium with terrific performances against some of the toughest competition from across the country.

MEN'S
The men's team began the tournament by going 3-0 in pool play with wins over Manitoba, McGill and Carleton. They put up 41 goals in just three games and finished with a +18 point differential in pool play. They claimed the one of the two top seeds in bracket play and a meeting with the Toronto Varsity Blues, which they would easily take 15-2.

Up next in the semifinal game was Manitoba who the Gaels had beaten the prior day 11-8. The Gaels continued their offence barrage as they took the match and earned a berth into the championship final with a 15-9 win.

In the championship final, the Gaels met McGill who had won their two prior knockout games by a combined three-goal margin. They would play the Gaels tough, however tournament MVP James Lewis led the Gaels to an 11-8 victory as he added two goals and four assists in a championship winning effort.

WOMEN'S
The women got off to a similar start as the men with a 3-0 record in pool play. With wins over Waterloo, Ottawa and McMaster the Gaels earned one of the two top seeds in bracket play.

In the quarterfinal on Sunday morning, the Gaels met the McGill Martlets and cruised to a 13-5 victory. Setting up a semifinal matchup with the Waterloo Warriors.

In their pool play game, the Warriors played the Gaels tough but Queen's was able to take the 13-11 win to secure top seed in the pool. However, Sunday's semifinal game was a different story as the Gaels forced their way to a 15-6 win.

This set up the Gaels' second championship final game of the day, however they would fall 13-7 to the Laval Rouge et Or.
