KINGSTON, Ont. (October 25, 2009) – The Queen's women's water polo team picked up their first win of the season, and first in over a year, as they defeated the York Lions by a score of 9-8 on Sunday afternoon.
Shannel Rajan was the difference in the game for the Gaels as she scored five of her team's nine goals. Other goal scorers included
Carla Henderson (2) and
Marissa Robinson (2).
As for the men's team, they lost a pair of games in weekend action. They opened their weekend with 22-10 loss to Western on Saturday and fell 14-9 to York on Sunday.
Gregory Kelley led all Queen's scorers with 10 goals over the two games.
Both teams will be back in action two weekends from now when they travel to Ottawa to take on the Carleton Ravens. The men's game gets underway at 1:30 while the women will start at 3:00 pm.
