Queen’s alumnus Brad Smith set to stay with Argos until 2011

Mississauga, Ont. (December 3, 2008) – The Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League have signed Queen's alumnus Brad Smith on Tuesday which will see him in stay in a Toronto uniform until 2011. Also signing were 2008 CFL Draft picks WR Mike Bradwell and OL Richard Zulys, as well as CFL veterans DL Adrian Davis, and OL Chris Van Zeyl through 2011.

Smith, who graduated from Queen's in 2007, was originally drafted by the Argonauts in the 2007 CFL Canadian Draft. He played in one game for the Boatman before being signed by Montreal later in the year. Smith re-joined the Argonauts in September 2008.

At Queen's, Smith was one of the top receivers in the league from 2002 to 2006. He twice earned CIS All-Canadian honours and is a three-time OUA All-Star. He also holds the school record for most receiving touchdowns in a career with 23 and ranks as one of the school's all-time top receivers. He returned to Queen's during training camp last August and acted as a guest coach.

Personal: Brad is the son of current Montreal Alouettes President and former CFL Commissioner and player Larry Smith. He is also the brother-in-law of current Alouettes kicker Damon Duval. Brad, who is bilingual, played football at St. Andrew's High School in Aurora, Ontario from 1999-2001 and was a member of the 2001 Provincial Championship team. Brad also played hockey and won an Ontario championship in 2000.
