Kingston, Ont. (November 14, 2008) – The Gaels headed into tonight's match-up confident that they would even their record. Undefeated York had other ideas as they swept Queen's 3-0 despite a spirited effort by the Gaels.
After a tough start losing the first set 25-11, the Gaels rebounded keeping pace with the Lions but ultimately fell 25-23 in the final two sets.
Outside
Natalie Gray of Oshawa, Ont. was the Gaels top performer recording nine kills and 13 digs to lead the team with 10 points.
Lorna Button of Newcastle, Ont. was also a key contributor on the floor hitting eight kills, five digs, and two assist for an eight point night.
Although the scoreboard did not indicate, the Gaels proved they can contend against York who remained undefeated by taking the lead numerous times in the final two sets.
Leading the Lions to victory was Nadia Reider of Buenos Aires, Argentina who had a game high 28 assists.
Queen's record is now 2-4 and will look to rebound from this loss as they host Lakehead in the Bartlett Gymnasium at 6:00pm.
