Queen's Fencers hosted over 250 athletes at the 32nd Queen's Invitational Fencing tournament this weekend. Queen's entered 39 fencers. The weekend saw Queen's capture one medal, with some strong performances by rookies.
In the women's events Foil Captain, Ashley Chin (Oakville, Ont.) placed 24 followed closely by Michelle Lo (Unionville, Ont.) at 27. Women's team captain Kristina Han (Burlington, Ont.) took ninth in women's sabre, with rookie Kim Sakkal (Unionville, Ont.) placing 27 in a remarkably strong performance.
In men's epee, Jack Chen (Richmond Hill, Ont.) led his team mates with an 11th place finish. In men's foil, Christian Petrozza ( Bradford, Ont.) placed fourth and rookie Dean Loubert ( Kanata, Ont.) fenced with finesse to finish at 14th.
The men's sabre group was led by Martin Busse (Bancroft, Ont.) with a bronze medal and by captain Scott Bowman (Milton, Ont.) with a sixth place finish. The next competition for Queen's is the Royal Military College tournament on November 1-2
