Queen's Athletics & Recreation announced Brandon Perry as the 13th head coach of the Queen's Men's Hockey program.

Perry, a Queen's Men's Hockey alumnus, is returning to Queen's after having played for the Gaels from 2008-2013. Perry played in 101 games for the Gaels over four seasons, recording eight goals and 13 assists. Perry was an assistant captain with the Gaels in his final season at Queen's.  Prior to joining the Gaels he played for the Kingston Voyageurs (2004-2008) in the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League,

"His journey from Queen's student athlete and graduate to his measurable impact on youth hockey provincially and nationally embodies the strategic foundation of our mission at A&R.  We know that through transformative experiences in athletics, combined with academic success, Queen's student athletes become Canada's leaders.  I'm confident his level of care and commitment to relationship building will continue to enhance our legacy program as he now leads our current student athletes onto their own paths of future success."

Perry will assume the role of head coach after spending the past five years as Head Coach and General Manager of the Timmins Rock in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL).

During his five seasons in Timmins, Perry led the Rock to an NOJHL Championship (2023) and three NOJHL Eastern Conference championships (2022-24). Under Perry, the Rock were also NOJHL finalists in 2026.

Perry was named the NOJHL Coach of the Year for the 20211-22 season and the Second Team All-Star Head Coach for the 2025-26 season.  Perry was also an assistant coach with Team Canada's U19 program for the World Junior A Challenge in 2024.

"I am incredibly honoured and excited to return to Queen's as Head Coach of the Men's Hockey program," said Perry. "Queen's played a significant role in my development as both a student-athlete and a person, and it's a privilege to have the opportunity to give back to a program that means so much to me. This is one of the most respected hockey programs in the country, with a proud tradition and passionate alumni, and I look forward to building on that legacy. I'm excited to work alongside our talented student-athletes and staff to create an environment where they can thrive on the ice, in the classroom, and as leaders in our community."

As general manager of the Rock, Perry led the team's recruitment and scouting process, building competitive rosters and developing recruiting pipelines across Northern Ontario.

"I've had the privilege of working alongside Brandon for the past five years," said Ted Gooch, President of the Timmins Rock. "He has a unique ability to get the very best out of every player, not only helping them develop as hockey players but also as young men."

Perry has coached numerous players that would go on to play in the CHL, U SPORTS, and the NCAA.

Prior to his time with the Rock, Perry also coached at the U18 AAA level with the Timmins Majors, and U 18 A level with the Timmins Flyers. Perry was named the Great North U18 AAA League Coach of the Year for the 2017-18 season while with the Majors.

Perry will begin his new position on August 10.
