OUA Playoff time for Queen's Gaels

It's OUA postseason time and the Queen's Gaels are playoff ready!

The OUA Playoffs kick off this week and all six Queen's two-term varsity sports teams qualified for the postseason after strong regular seasons.

Action begins Wednesday with a Round 1 game for Men's Basketball, while Men's Hockey opens their Round 1 series on the road.

Queen's Women's and Men's Volleyball host quarterfinal games on Friday night at the ARC, while Men's Hockey hosts Game 2 of their series Friday at the Memorial Centre, and the week ends with Queen's Women's Basketball hosting their quarterfinal matchup Saturday night at the ARC.

Queen's Women's Hockey will play next week, awaiting their opponent in the quarterfinals.

Queen's Men's Basketball

Queen's Men's Basketball enters the OUA Playoffs as the No. 6 seed in the OUA with a 15-7 record. Winners of their last nine games in a row, the Gaels will carry a lot of momentum into their Round 1 game against the No. 11 seed Toronto Varsity Blues.

The Gaels host the Varsity Blues Wednesday at 7 PM at the ARC.

Queen's Women's Basketball

Queen's Women's Basketball holds home court advantage as the No. 1 seed in the OUA bracket by virtue of their 21-1 regular season record.

The Gaels will open their OUA Playoffs on Saturday at 6 PM at the ARC. Queen's awaits the winner of the Round 1 matchup between the Laurentian Voyageurs and York Lions on Wednesday.

Queen's Men's Hockey

After winning their last two games of the regular season this past weekend, Queen's Men's Hockey earned a berth in the OUA Playoffs and will enter as the No. 6 seed in the OUA East with a 14-13-1 record.

The Gaels will take on the No. 3 seed McGill Redbirds in a best-of-three series in Round 1.

Queen's will travel to Montreal, Que. to take on McGill on Wednesday at 7 PM before hosting the Redbirds on Friday at 7:30 PM at the Memorial Centre.

Should the series require a deciding Game 3, the Gaels will travel to Montreal to play McGill on Sunday at 3 PM.

Queen's Women's Hockey

The lone Gaels team not in action this week, Queen's Women's Hockey will await the winner of the Round 1 matchup between the Nipissing Lakers and Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. The Gaels, who finished as the No. 1 seed in the OUA East with a 19-6-1 record, hold home ice advantage in the OUA quarterfinals next week.

Queen's Men's Volleyball

Queen's Men's Volleyball enters the OUA Playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the OUA with a 14-6 record. The Gaels will host the No. 6 seed York Lions in the quarterfinals Friday at 8 PM at the ARC in the second leg of a Queen's Volleyball quarterfinals doubleheader, with a spot in the semifinals on the line.

Queen's Women's Volleyball

Queen's Women's Volleyball has an identical 14-6 record and will enter the OUA Playoffs as the No. 4 seed. The Gaels will host the No. 5 seed Guelph Gryphons in the quarterfinals on Friday at 6 PM at the ARC in the first leg of a Queen's Volleyball quarterfinals doubleheader.
