Hannah Lee, Hannah Hewett, Trekker James and Cameron Greatrex have been named the Queen's University Athletes of the Week, presented by Egg Farmers of Ontario, following standout performances for the Gaels over the weekend.
Lee (Health Sciences & Nursing) continued her impressive start to the season, capturing the individual title while helping Queen's Women's Golf make program history.
Lee fired rounds of 70 and 68 to finish the tournament at four-under, earning her third university event victory.
This performance also helped lead the Gaels to the best team score in program history, with Queen's finishing at three-over with a team score of 216..
Hannah Hewett (Women's Water Polo)
Hewett led the way offensively for Queen's Women's Water Polo over the weekend as the Gaels took on the defending league champions from Toronto.
Hewett found the back of the net 17 times, leading Queen's offensively against one of the top teams in the league.
James (Arts & Science) helped lead Queen's Men's Rugby to a dominant 55–17 victory over the Waterloo Warriors Saturday afternoon at Nixon Field.
The fifth-year Gael played a key role in Queen's offensive performance as the Gaels put up 55 points against the Warriors to earn their second victory of the season.
The win moved Queen's to 2–2 on the season as the Gaels continue their push toward the OUA postseason.
James and the Gaels will return to action Saturday, Oct. 10, when they travel to St. Catharines, Ont., to take on the Brock Badgers at 1 p.m.
Greatrex (Smith Engineering) made an impressive return to competition in his first event back from injury, finishing second individually while helping lead Queen's Men's Golf to a strong team result.
Greatrex was consistent throughout the tournament, firing back-to-back rounds of 69 to finish at four-under.
His performance helped the Gaels finish at four-under as a team, highlighting a strong return to competition for Greatrex.
