Queen's Cross Country and Distance Track competed at the McGill Team Challenge this past weekend, earning five medals at the meet.
The Gaels' medal haul was highlighted by
Caleigh Pribaz, who took home two gold medals. Pribaz (Kinesiology) won the Women's 1,000 metre event with a time of 2:51.28, just edging the second place finisher from Sherbrooke.Â
Pribaz also helped the Gaels 4X800M relay team earn gold. Pribaz,
Olivia Hendrikx (Medicine),
Gillian Porter (Applied Science), and
Elizabeth Vroom (Engineering) earned the top spot on the podium with a final time of 9:07.70, almost four seconds ahead of the second place finishers from McGill.
Vroom also cam home with two medals after finishing second in the Women's 1,500 metre event. Vroom captured the silver medal with a final time of 4:25.64.
On the Men's side,
Jude Wheeler-Dee also earned two medals, an individual gold and team silver. Wheeler-Dee (Chemistry) crossed the finish line first in the Men's 1,500 metre event with a final time of 3:43.10, more than six seconds faster than the second place finisher from McGill, to earn the gold medal.
Wheeler-Dee also won a silver medal in the 4X800 metre relay event alongside teammates
Tanner Hueglin (Arts & Science), Ian McCosham (Kinesiology), and
Cameron Bennett (Applied Science). The Gaels finished second in the event, crossing the finish line with a final time of 7:38.98.
