KINGSTON, Ont. (May 20, 2025) - Queen's Football's Nico Kwemo signed a professional contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL), on Tuesday, and will join the team in training camp in Winnipeg, Man.

Kwemo (Kinesiology) emerged as a key presence on the gridiron for Queen's last season. The receiver played in all 10 games this season, capping off the season with 34 receptions for 452 yards and two touchdowns.

Kwemo played four seasons for Queen's Football (2021-24), recording a combined 70 receptions for 882 yards and six touchdowns.

Kwemo was invited to participate in the CFL Invitational Combine earlier this year.

Kwemo's older brother, Nelkas Kwemo, played two seasons in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts. Another Queen's Football alumnus, Nelkas Kwemo recorded 16 defensive tackles and 31 special teams tackles in 28 games for the Argonauts from 2018-19.

Queen's Football finished the 2024 season with a 5-3 record in the regular season before advancing to the OUA semifinals where they lost to the eventual Yates Cup Champion Laurier Golden Hawks, 29-21.

The Blue Bombers have appeared in the last five Grey Cup games, winning the CFL championship in 2019 and 2021. Winnipeg is coming off an 11-7 regular season record in 2024.
