Queen’s Community Remembers Hall of Famer Jack Sisson

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 11, 2025) – Queen's Athletics & Recreation, along with the Queen's Football program and its alumni, mourns the passing of the Belleville Sports Hall of Famer Jack Sisson, who passed away on February 5 at Hospice Quinte in Belleville, Ont. at the age of 96.

As a standout student-athlete, Sisson led the Queen's Golden Gaels from 1949 to 1953 as a half-back, playing a key role in securing an intercollegiate championship.

His talent and leadership on the field earned him recognition at the next level, and after graduating with a degree in physical education, he was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 1953 CFL Draft. Sisson, however, declined the invite and opted to attend teacher's college instead.

Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Sisson dedicated his life to coaching, educating and mentoring students and athletes at Quinte Secondary School.

In recognition of his contributions to sports, Sisson was inducted into the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame in 1989. His legacy as a Hall of Famer and his contributions to Queen's Football will always be remembered.
