U SPORTS CAREER REBOUND RECORD BROKEN BY QUEEN'S FORWARD KIYARA LETLOW IN WIN OVER OTTAWA

KINGSTON, ON — The Queen's Women's Basketball team started their home season strong with an 80-47 victory against the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Thursday night. From the opening tip, the Gaels led, maintaining control throughout the game.

Playing an early-season matchup against a familiar rival, the Gaels showed consistency on both ends of the court, keeping the Gee-Gees behind for the entire game.

The much anticipated highlight of the night, from Queen's forward Kiyara Letlow, (Kinesiology) who set a new U SPORTS record for the most career rebounds by any men's or women's player in Canadian university basketball. With seven rebounds tonight, Letlow's total of 1182 rebounds breaks new ground in the program and the country.

"It's a really big deal, it just goes to show the amount of work that's been put in to her game," said Claire Meadows, Queen's women's basketball head coach.

The record was previously held by Sarah Crooks from the Saskatchewan Huskies. Letlow was able to achieve the record in only 78 games, the previous record was achieved 102 games.
