Gaels Roll to 93–64 Victory Over Waterloo in Explosive Second Half

The ARC was electric Friday as Queen's Men's Basketball welcomed the Waterloo Warriors, ready to battle for their third victory of the season.

Queen's came out firing in the opening quarter, matching Waterloo basket for basket. The Gaels' offense found rhythm early, while key defensive stops kept the Warriors from pulling away. After a fast-paced ten minutes, Queen's held a slim 28–24 lead.

The battle continued in the second quarter as both teams pushed the tempo. Queen's stayed composed under pressure, hitting crucial shots down the stretch to maintain their edge. By halftime, the Gaels led 48–45, keeping the game tightly contested heading into the second half.

Queen's came out of halftime determined to build on their first-half momentum, focusing on defensive rebounds and tightening their play. The Gaels' offense started clicking from all angles, turning a close contest into a commanding lead. Ashton Bain (Arts) contributed 15 points, Noah Khaja (Arts) added 13, and nine different players appeared on the scoresheet, highlighting the team's depth and balance. Queen's dominated the second half and closed out the game with a decisive 93–64 victory.

After the game, Ollie Engen (Kinesiology), who led the team with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists, reflected on the performance: "We stayed true to the things we are trying to work on. I think we did a good job in the first half playing our style. Big change, really honed in on the defensive rebounds." On the team's overall effort, Engen added, "All 12 guys chipped in—everybody did their part."

Don't miss your Queen's Gaels back on the court tomorrow, November 22nd, as they face off against the Laurier Goldenhawks. Tip-off is at 6:00 PM in the ARC Main Gym—come out and show your support!
