The Queen's Gaels Women's Volleyball team put together a strong performance on home court, defeating the Nipissing Lakers in three straight sets. The Gaels secured the match with set wins of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-22, earning a confident straight-set sweep. From the opening serve to the final point, the Gaels showcased clean execution, solid defensive play, and strong serving that allowed them to stay in control throughout the match.
The Gaels opened the first set with steady momentum, keeping pressure on Nipissing through consistent serving and efficient attacking.
Claire Carter (Business) sparked the Gaels with several strong swings from the left side, helping the Gaels build a comfortable lead through the set. Clean transitions and solid first contacts helped the Gaels maintain control as they closed out the set 25-17.
In the second set, the Gaels continued to build on their rhythm. The Gaels moved the ball effectively and limited unforced errors, allowing them to stay comfortably ahead throughout the set.
Christine Abu (Arts & Science) delivered a key serving run that widened the gap, including a momentum-shifting ace. With balanced offence and disciplined defensive coverage, the Gaels extended their lead and secured the set 25-15.
The third set was the most competitive of the match, with the Lakers pushing back and keeping the score tight. Despite the challenge, the Gaels stayed composed during long rallies and responded with timely plays when it mattered most.
Kennedy Millin (Education), who tallied 25 assists in the entire game, steered the Gaels' offence in the final set, delivering sharp sets that led directly to key kills. The Gaels finished the set 25-22, earning a confident three-set victory.
