KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 8, 2024) – Queen's Men's Hockey forward
Alex Robert was presented the J.W. (Bill) Fitsell Memorial Award at the 36
th Carr-Harris Challenge Cup Thursday at the Leon's Centre.
The Fitsell Memorial Award is presented to the Outstanding Graduating Student-Athlete from both Queen's & RMC, in memory of Kingston's greatest hockey historian, who passed away in 2020.
Bill Fitsell spearheaded the concept for the Carr-Harris Cup game during Kingston's hockey centennial in 1986, to formalize hockey's oldest challenge game between Queen's University & Royal Military College.
Regarded as one of hockey's most renowned historians, Bill authored several books on the history of hockey, dedicated fifty-years of his life as a volunteer with the Original Hockey Hall of Fame, and was co-founder of the Society for International Hockey Research. He is an honoured member of both the Kingston and Lindsay, Ontario Sports Halls of Fame.
Robert (Ottawa, Ont.) is a fifth-year veteran in Applied Economics. An assistant captain with the Gaels, Robert is a leader both on and off the ice, volunteering his time away from the rink with local minor hockey teams in area.

On the ice, Robert has nine goals and 11 assists in 23 games heading into the Carr-Harris Cup.
Chris Paquette was the RMC Paladins' recipient for the Fitsell Award.
