KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 6, 2024) - Queen's Women's Hockey were edged 2-1 by the Brock Badgers Saturday afternoon at the Memorial Centre, on the Gaels' Kingston and Community Girls in Hockey Day.
The Badgers opened the scoring on the power play in first period and added a second goal in the second period. Queen's staged a late comeback attempt, with
Emma Michalicka (Johnstown, Ont.) finding the back of the net in the third period with a goal assisted by
Scout Watkins Southward (Kingston, Ont.) and
Mikayla Cranney (Aurora, Ont.).
The Gaels outshot Brock 35-22 in the loss.
Despite the result, Queen's Women's Hockey's Girls in Hockey Day was a success with plenty of fans out in full force, wearing their jerseys and cheering on the Gaels.
Queen's record fell to 8-9-0-0 with the loss. The Gaels will return to the ice next weekend on the road, traveling to Toronto, Ont. to take on the TMU Bold Friday night and Toronto Varsity Blues Saturday night. Both games can be seen on
