Queen's Women's Hockey opened their weekend road trip in Toronto, Ont. with a 5-3 win over the TMU Bold Friday night.
After the Bold opened the scoring in the first period, the Gaels scored two in the second to take a one-goal lead into the third period. The team's traded goals throughout the third before Queen's added a late empty-netter for the two-goal victory.
Scout Watkins-Southward (Kingston, Ont.) and
Emma Michalicka (Johnstown, Ont.) led the Gaels' offence in the win, recording a goal and an assist each.
Emma McKnight (Dorchester, Ont.),
Mikayla Cranney (Aurora, Ont.), and
Taya Leonard (Stouffville, Ont.) also scored for Queen's.
The Gaels out-shot TMU in the win, 42-33, with Queen's goalie
Emma Tennant (Pointe-Claire, Que.) recording 30 saves for the victory.
With the win, Queen's improved to .500 on the season with a 9-9-0-0 record. The Gaels will close out their weekend road trip Saturday night against the Toronto Varsity Blues. Watch the game
