KINGSTON, Ont. (May 2, 2023) - Queen's Football had three players selected in the 2023 Canadian Football League Draft Tuesday night. Offensive linemen
Theo Grant and
Evan Floren, and receiver
Richard Burton all heard their name called in the annual draft.
Grant (Halifax, N.S.) was selected in the fourth round, 32nd overall, by the Montreal Alouettes.Â
Burton (Ottawa, Ont.) was selected in the sixth round, 47th overall, by the Toronto Argonauts.
Floren (Ancaster, Ont.) was selected in the seventh round, 57th overall, by the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Grant and Floren were part of an offensive line that helped Queen's Football finish second in the conference in rushing at 239.3 yards per game and fourth in the conference in passing at 227.3 yards per game. Floren was also named an OUA First Team All-Star and U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian in 2022.
Burton led Queen's and was fourth in the OUA in receiving with 34 receptions for 557 yards and a touchdown in the regular season. Burton added another 294 receiving yards in three postseason games. Burton was named an OUA First Team All-Star and U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian for his performance in 2022.
