KINGSTON, Ont. (March 6, 2023) - Arielle Palermo and Cole Syllas have been named the Queen's University Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances this past week.

Palermo (Burlington, Ont.) helped Queen's Women's Volleyball advance to the OUA Quigley Cup Championship, pulling off their second straight upset by defeating the No. 3 seed Waterloo Warriors in straight sets (25-22, 25-18, 25-13) Saturday night in Waterloo, Ont.

Palermo had a big game for Queen's in the win, recording a game-high 15 kills while adding seven digs, one assist, and one block.

The No. 7 seed Gaels will now take on the No. 1 seed Brock Badgers for the OUA Championship and a spot in the U SPORTS Women's Volleyball Championship on Saturday, March 11 in St. Catharines, Ont.

Syllas (Kingston, Ont.) had a strong game for Queen's Men's Basketball as they were edged by the Carleton Ravens 93-86 in the OUA semifinals. Syllas finished the game with 25 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks.

The Gaels earned the tournament's at-large berth and will be seeded No. 5. They will open the tournament against the No. 4 seed and host StFX X-Men, who finished the year as AUS Champions, Friday at 5 p.m. EST in Halifax, N.S.
