KINGSTON, Ont. (Dec. 5, 2023) - Three Queen's Men's Hockey players were named to the roster for the 2023 U SPORTS Men's Hockey All-Star Series later this month, joining Gaels Head Coach
Brett Gibson, who will
lead the team's coaching staff.
Dalton Duhart,
Jacob Paquette, and
Jonathan Yantsis were named to the roster by U SPORTS Tuesday.
Duhart (Grand Blanc, Mich.) finished the first half of the OUA regular season leading the conference in points with 35. Duhart is second in the OUA and tied for first on the Gaels with 13 goals, and has a conference-leading 22 assists.
Paquette (Ottawa, Ont.) has a goal and seven assists in 16 games for the Gaels this season, helping to lead a defence corps that is 11th in the conference in team defence.
Yantsis (Markham, Ont.) finished the first half of the regular season with nine goals and 16 assists in 18 games.
Paquette and Yantsis have international experience at the U SPORTS level, having helped Team Canada win gold at the 2023 FISU Games alongside Gibson.
"It is such a great opportunity for our student-athletes, but it does come with an enormous responsibility to challenge our Canadian National Junior team hopefuls in their training camp," said Gibson. "Our staff have done our due diligence in scouting U SPORTS athletes to bring together what we feel is team that will represent our brand of hockey best."
Hockey Canada's National Junior Team has faced various U SPORTS competition on a regular basis since 1988. U SPORTS began its current All-Star team format in 2015 and in eight previous camps has a 6-8-1 record.
