Brooke Rutledge and Dan Coolican were named the Alfie Pierce Trophy recipients as Queen's Varsity Clubs Rookies of the Year for the 2021-22 season during the 86
th annual Colour Awards, which were held virtually from May 17-19.
Rutledge (Melancthon, Ont.) was named an Alfie Pierce Trophy recipient as Varsity Clubs Female Rookie of the Year after being named an OUA First Team All-Star and helping the Gaels earn the OUA silver medal this past season.
"Brooke has an engine that doesn't quit, she is constantly battling all over the field," said Watson. "She was one of our leaders this year on loose balls and was among our leading scorers. She leads by example with her play on the field and never quits. Brooke also plays in all situations for us."
Coolican (Kingston, Ont.) was named an Alfie Pierce Trophy recipient as Varsity Clubs Male Rookie of the Year after helping Queen's Cycling win the Canadian Collegiate Cycling Association (CCCA) Virtual Championship Series.
Coolican finished in second place in the CCCA Men's Category 1 Individual Omnium Leaderboard, and also won the Ottawa Grand Prix Road Race and finished second in the Toronto Grand Prix Time Trial this past season.
"Dan has consistently been our top performing male athlete, and has shown great commitment to the team this year," said Queen's Cycling President
