Queen's Track & Field middle distance runner
Jude Wheeler-Dee may be one of the surprise finds of the OUA and U SPORTS Track & Field scene after an impressive series of races at the OUA Track and Field Championships. On Friday, Wheeler-Dee placed sixth in the 1000m race with a time that puts him as the seventh fastest 1000m runner in Queen's history.
On Saturday, Wheeler-Dee was at it again in the men's 1500m. He ran a 30-second personal best of 3:54.79 to place seventh. Both times place him among the fastest U SPORTS first year runners in the nation.
Men's team captain
Miles Brackenbury followed just behind Wheeler-Dee in ninth with a time of 3:58.62.
Brackenbury and
Roman Mironov placed 11th and 13th in the men's 3000m final.
Kara Blair led Queen's Women's team with a seasonal best time of 9:56.18 and a ninth place finish in the 3000m.
Manon Plouvier improved upon her ranking, finishing with a personal best time of 10:00.45 and coming in 11
th place, while
Laura Yantha finished 13th.
Blair also ran a 4:42.13 for 16th in the 1500m, while Yantha and Plouvier followed close behind in 17
th and 20
th.
Second-year athlete Madeyn Bullock led the Gael's women with a 9
th place finish and time of 1:38.08 in the 600m.
Erini Haran led Queen's Women in the 1000m with a 17
th placement, followed by
Tamara Goddard and
Emma Graham in 18
th and 19
th respectively. The team of Bullock,
Katherine Taylor, Haron, and Goddard placed sixth in the Women's 4x800m.
