KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 11, 2022) - Queen's Women's Basketball starts their weekend off strong with a 99-69 win over the visiting Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Friday evening at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
The team took the game away with a strong first quarter, ending with a 24-point lead (36-12). They didn't slow down and were able to score 31 in the second, extending their lead to 55-24 going into the half. The Gaels were able to keep up the pace for all of the second half of the game, scoring over 30 points in both the third and fourth quarters.
Friday was their highest scoring game of the season so far with Julia Chadwick leading the way with 26 points.
Laura Donovan wasn't far behind with 19 points herself. Donovan was also 4 for 5 on her 3-pointers.
The Gaels had 12 steals on the night. Emma Weltz made up almost half of those with five.
Queen's Head Coach Claire Meadows said last week was all about increasing the pace of the game and attacking offensively. When speaking with Meadows after the game, she stated it was the pace that led to their success today.
The Gaels will play their first away game on Sunday where they will take on the McMaster Marauders at 1 p.m. The game will be available to stream on oua.tv.
