Queen's alumna and former Gaels student-athlete Haley Smith finished 29th in the women's mountain biking cross-country event at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday, July 27.
Smith was one of two Canadians competing in the 38-person event at the Izu Mountain Bike Course. She finished one lap behind the gold medal winner, Jolanda Neff from Switzerland. Neff finished with a time of 1:15:46. See the official results

Switzerland swept the podium places in the event, with Sina Frei finishing second and taking home the silver medal and Linda Indergand finishing third for the bronze medal.
Smith is a former Alfie Pierce Trophy recipient at Queen's, receiving the award in 2011-12 after finishing as the top female in the A Division and helping the Queen's Cycling team take the University Cup. Queen's won the University Cup in mountain biking in every year Smith was part of the team.
