Queen's Men's Soccer completes weekend sweep of RMC

Queen's Men's Soccer defeated the RMC Paladins 6-1 Sunday at Richardson Stadium to complete their weekend home-and-home series sweep of RMC after winning Friday night at RMC.

With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 4-2-2, good for third in the OUA East with 14 points. RMC's record fell to 0-8-0 with the loss.

Jason Cho and Bruno Chan led the offensive effort for the Gaels. Cho (Quispamsis, N.S.) recorded a hat trick while Chan (Recife, Brazil) added two goals and an assist, all in the first half, to pace Queen's offence.

Queen's opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Cho converted a penalty. Chan doubled the Gaels' lead just five minutes later after scoring on Queen's second penalty kick of the game. Cho scored his second goal of the game in the 12th minute on a goal assisted by Ian Ferguson (Kingston, Ont.) before Chan got his second of the game with a goal assisted by Miro Berger (Kreuzlingen, Switzerland). Cho and Chan connected for Queen's fifth goal of the game in the 45th minute.

Cho now leads Queen's with five goals through seven appearances this season.

RMC would get on the board in the 74th minute when Henry Gagnon headed the ball into the net on a set piece delivered by Anton Buciora.

Lucas Booth (North Vancouver, B.C.) scored the Gaels' sixth goal of the game in the 90th minute, assisted by Nick Alie Day (Vancouver, B.C.).

Queen's finished the game with 31 shots and 21 shots on net. RMC finished with eight shots and three on net, with Queen's goalkeeper Tyler Gowdy (Ottawa, Ont.) recording two saves.

Queen's Men's Soccer will return to action next weekend with a home-and-home series against the York Lions. Queen's are in York on Friday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. before hosting the Lions on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 3:30 p.m.
