KINGSTON, Ont. (January 31, 2020) - The Queen's Men's Basketball team (11-6) bested the Waterloo Warriors (4-13) with a score of 79-46 on Friday night.  
 
GAME FLOW
Waterloo started the game off with Kuel Thomas on a drive that resulted in a Gaels foul, giving the Warriors the first three points. 
Luka Syllas quickly picked up an offensive rebound and bucket to take the lead for Queen's early on. 
Quinton Gray scored his first of four 3-point shots to extend the Gaels lead and force the Warriors into their first timeout of the game. The first quarter finished with a score of 18-14 for the Gaels.
 
Cole Syllas began the second quarter with a 3-point shot. 
Bruno Chan followed this up with a steal that turned into points to extend Queen's lead to 10 over the Warriors. The Gaels had a tighter defensive game in the second quarter, only allowing Waterloo to score 11 points in the frame. Moving into the second half the Gaels led the Warriors 45-25.
 
Harry Range started the second half with two points for Queen's after a quick passing play from 
Cole Syllas which extended their lead to 20 points. The Gaels found their stride in the middle of the frame as they went on a 10-point run to force the Warriors to regroup in a timeout. Gray led the way for Queen's this quarter with six points and five rebounds. Moving into the final frame the Warriors were still trailing the Gaels with a score of 62-34.
 
Queen's maintained and extended their lead in the fourth quarter to over 30 points. The Warriors ran into foul trouble as they attempted to contain the Gaels aggressive offence. Queen's was able to shutdown Waterloo's offence keeping them to just under 50 points on the night. The Gaels took the game with a score of 79-46.

Head Coach Stephen Barrie on their game tonight, "I think we did not have the greatest first half but luckily we are able to pull it together in the second to pull of the win tonight. 
Luka Syllas was a key factor in our win today which is always good to see our younger guys performing at that level."
