GAME FLOW
The Gaels were fast to meet the Blues defence in the first. With the Tricolour gaining momentum off several early serving errors by the Blues, they managed to make quick work of the first set, taking it 25-18.

The momentum swung in the Blues favor in the second set.  The Blues consistency to maintain quick pace on offence paid off in a 25-17 set win. Tying up the match 1-1.

Arielle Palermo opened up the third set with an ace, setting the tone for the Gaels in the remainder of the set. The majority of the set was a close point for point rally, however, a strong set from
Saffron van der Linde on offence kept the Gaels in the match. Van der Linde completed a match total of 16 kills and five match total serving aces. But the Blues brick-wall blocks made offence difficult for the Gaels to maintain a substantial lead. In the final moments of the third set, van der Linde hit the ace and
Julia Wiercigroch met the Blues with an aggressive attack, earning the Gaels a well-deserved set win 28-26.

The Blues returned the Gaels match lead with a consistent set in the fourth. Strong blocking, patience on offence and several attempt errors by the Gaels gave the Blues the space the needed to pull ahead. The Blues took the fourth set 25-20, pushing the match into a fifth and deciding set.

The fifth set continued to be point-for-point. The Gaels final push proved to be effective. With a strong serve off of the hand of Palermo, and a match-point kill from
Julia Wiercigroch, the Gaels took the fifth set 15-13 and the match 3-2.
