KINGSTON, Ont. (January 25, 2020)- The No.7 Queen's Gaels (9-4) were evenly matched against the No.8 Toronto Varsity Blues (10-1) this Saturday evening but were unable to secure the win.The Varsity Blues took the four-set match 3-1.

The Gaels took the early led in the first set. With
Zac Hutcheson continuing the precedent he set thus far this season, with agile attacks and hustle on defence. Hutcheson completed a match total of 18 kills and four digs. Following an athletic rally, the Gaels took the first set 25-18.
Lukas Kaufman's relentlessness on defence, resulting in several pancake plays, characterized the second set. With Kaufman completing a match total of 19 digs. However, the Gaels could not hold off the Blues persistence defence. The Blues came out on top of the second set 25-18, tying up the match 1-1.
An early kill from
Erik Siksna propelled the Gaels momentum into the third. Queen's led the majority of the set by a single point lead. Things got tense in the final moments, with long rallies resulting in a point-for-point struggle. The Blues manage to hold onto the third set in a gripping 34-32 finish, pushing the match to a fourth set.
The point-for-point patterns continued in the fourth set. The Gaels experienced several serving errors but did not let their momentum die. The Tricolour fought for the lead until the final moments of the match but could not hold on. Toronto held onto the set 25-21, taking the match 3-1.
