GAME FLOW
As the rain started to pour, the Queen's Gaels battled against the Trent Excalibur at Richardson Stadium, both teams we're looking for their first win of the season.
During the first 20 minutes of play, the Gaels controlled the ball exceptionally well against Trent's defense. Queen's seemed able to set up scoring opportunities in Trent's end with every touch of the ball. The first half ended with no goals to show for Queen's attacking pressure, however the team had the momentum going in their favor heading into the second half.
The second half began in a similar fashion with the Gaels offense continuing to put pressure on Trent goalkeeper Allan Fabrykant. Both teams moved the ball well until the Gaels were able to get a shot past the Trent goalkeeper in the 80
th minute, as
Nick Alie Day scored his first goal of the season and
Michael Chang earned the assist.
After a tough start to the season, this past weekend definitely feels like an early turning point of the men's soccer team with a close battle Saturday ending in a scoreless draw and today's victory over Queen's.
