The Queen's men's soccer team will start the 2019 season against the No.6 Ryerson Rams on Saturday, August 31 at Richardson Stadium. The Gaels will look to continue their program's resurgence following a terrific 2018 season that saw the club post a 9-6-1 record, fourth-best in the OUA East Division.

While last season ended in a heartbreaking early playoff upset loss to Nippising, the Gaels return to action in great territory to build on last season's success with a large group of returning veterans.

Queen's will once again be led on offence by midfielder Michael Chang. Entering his fourth-year, Chang topped the Gaels lineup with five goals and earned OUA second-team All-Star selection for his efforts.

The Gaels defence will be led by fourth-year defender Kwame Addai, third-year Zachary Toupin and two returning veteran goalkeepers Alex Jones and Alexander Dimock. The pair split time in goal for the Tricolour in 2018, Jones made nine starts posting a 5-3 record with five shutouts, while Dimock went 3-2-1 in six games.

Quote from the Head Coach: "We've got a new group of recruits that we've actually been looking at for the past three or four years now. They're bringing a lot of individual technical ability plus pace. They've already shown they've got what it takes to match what we need in the OUA and the energy levels have been really high since they've joined our sessions."

Head Coach Christian Hoefler enters his seventh season leading the Gaels men's soccer program. Hoefler has consistently made the playoffs, most recently reaching the second round of the OUA playoffs in 2016. He started his career at Queen's with back-to-back 10-3-5 seasons in 2014 and 2015.
