KINGSTON, Ont. - Queen's Athletics is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Gareth Cunningham to the Associate Director, Recreation and Active Living position in the Athletics and Recreation Department. 

Gareth has been working in recreation for over 15 years, over 10 years in the university setting in various roles. He's spent 7.5 years focused on the student experience, dedicated to supporting student health and well-being growth and development at Western University, where he most recently served as Associate Director, Campus Recreation and Facilities, with their Sports and Recreation Services division. In these roles he led the recreation and sports facilities units in all program design, delivery and assessment, administration and operations, membership services, leading a team of professional staff and over 400 student staff for 35,000 campus and community participants. 

He also served as Director, External Engagement, Alumni Relations and Development with Western University, where he was responsible for the management of a diverse alumni engagement, programs, events and leadership strategy.  
 
Gareth graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (2000) and completed graduate studies coursework in Recreation & Leisure Studies at the University of Waterloo.
