Gaels blowout Ontario Tech 76-47 on Junior Gaels Day

KINGSTON, Ont. (November 29, 2019) - The No. 8 Queen's Gaels (7-4) defeated the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks (0-10) 76-47 on Friday night.

GAME FLOW
The Gaels got off to a good start in the first quarter taking advantage of the size mismatch on the offensive end. Bilan Khadar of the Ridgebacks scored her first of points on the night after a jump shot. Julia Chadwick led the Gaels to start with five points and two rebounds en route to a 26-10 lead over Ontario Tech after the first quarter. 

The second quarter saw similar play from the Gaels as they were successful at both ends of the court, putting up 18 points while holding Ontario Tech to 14. Throughout the middle of the quarter the Ridgebacks were able to make up some of their deficit with Bilan Khadar scoring eight points. The Gaels bench scored 17 points, while creating  to keep their distant lead over Ontario Tech. while creating 21 turnovers. Emma Ritcey led Queen's in the half with eight points, as the Gaels held the lead with a score of 44-24 moving into halftime. 
 
The Gaels cruised in the second half, stretching out their comfortable lead even further and receiving a balanced scoring effort throughout the lineup, with seven players recording at least five points. The Gaels walked away with an 76-47 win, their seventh of the season. The Gaels were led by Emma Ritcey with 17 points while Sophie de Goede was instrumental in Queens defensive side with 12 rebounds. The Queen's Gaels finished the score of 76-47 reflecting their efforts with a victory over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. 

FINAL SAY
Gaels head coach James Bambury spoke on the most instrumental player of the game, "Emma Ritcey obviously had a big impact on the scoreboard but I would say the depth of our bench and our ability to work as a team is what allowed us to be so successful tonight."

15 - Dalyssa Fleurgin led Ontario Tech in scoring with 15 points
