The Queen's football team held their annual awards banquet this past weekend and honoured their team award recipients throughout the evening.

Taking home the Johnny Evans trophy as Team MVP was quarterback Nate Hobbs. The fifth-year senior had another remarkable season for the Gaels finishing as one of the top quarterbacks in the country and cementing his legacy in Queen's history. Hobbs finished with 2664 passing yards in 2018 throwing for 10 touchdowns. He was also a force to be reckoned with on the ground rushing for 205 yards and an astounding nine touchdowns.

The most outstanding offensive and defensive awards went to Matteo Del Brocco and Zachary Kealey respectively. Del Brocco was the recipient of the Doug Hargreaves Trophy and Kealey the Lou Bruce Trophy.

Other award winners on the evening were Ejaz Causer who received the Bill Miklas trophy as the player who best combines Academics, Athletics and a commitment to Queen's. Causer was a leader on defence for the Tricolour, an academic All-Canadian and a former Nixon award winner.

Richard Burton received the Justin Schweig Memorial Trophy as the most improved player, Marquis Richards took home the Hal McCarney trophy as most dedicated, and Konner Burtenshaw was the most outstanding special teams player receiving the Bob Howes trophy.

The outstanding lineman Orrin Carson trophy recipients were on the offensive line Josh Mosley and on the defensive line OUA All-Star Cam Lawson.

The Royal Todd Trophy for rookie of the year went to electrifying running back Rasheed Tucker. The future looks bright for the young Gael as he was named to the OUA All-Rookie team.

The Berk Brean Memorial Trophy was also given out to the Frontenac County Coach of the year and this year's recipient was Dale Sands of the Kingston Grenadiers.

Former head coach Pat Sheahan was also on hand and received a special Queen's helmet plaque as he helped honour the Tricolour athletes.
