It's a big weekend for the Gaels as the women's and men's basketball teams open up at home for the first time in 2019. On Friday night against Ryerson Queen's Athletics will honour the Fall championship teams and clubs with a special recognition ceremony.

Then on Saturday night the Gaels host Toronto for their annual Shoot For the Cure game. To donate the cause visit gogaelsgo.com/shootforthecure. Women's Basketball
The Gaels (8-4) are coming off a tough loss to the Nipissing Lakers after defeating Laurentian the previous night but return home looking to gain ground in the tight OUA East standings.

The Gaels sit in fourth place currently while Carleton, Ottawa and Friday nights opponent Ryerson are all 10-2. A win over the No.2 Rams Friday would put the Gaels back on track before hosting Toronto (3-9) in the Shoot for the Cure game.

Maddie Morris was the lone bright spot offensively in the loss to the Lakers as the veteran established a new career high with 15 points while also hauling in nine rebounds.

After a five-game road trip, Queen's will be looking to move to a perfect 6-0 at home with a pair of victories this weekend. Both games are set for 6 pm tip-offs and for tickets to either game head to gogaelsgo.com/tickets or stream the action live on OUA.tv.

Men's Basketball
The Gaels picked up a pair of road wins last weekend to start 2019 on the right foot. They now return home this Friday at 8 pm to meet the No.2 Ryerson Rams (11-1) and follow up Saturday at 8 pm against the Toronto Varsity Blues (4-8).

The Gaels sit in fourth place in the OUA East just two points behind third-place Ottawa who sits at 9-3.

Tanner Graham continues to be a dominant force for the Gaels and is currently sitting in fifth on the all-time scoring list for Queen's. Graham has 1,129 points and is just 17 behind fourth-place Mike Scotten (1,146). Derek Richardson's 1,279 is third, Mitch Leger's 1,337 is second, and the all-time leader is Sukhpreet Singh with 1,379.

For tickets to either game head to gogaelsgo.com/tickets or catch the action live on OUA.tv.

Women's Hockey
The women's hockey team (8-6-0-0) is set to hit the road this weekend to take on Ryerson (7-4-2-1) Friday night at 7:15 pm followed by an afternoon battle with Toronto (6-5-1-1) at 3 pm.

The Gaels opened up 2019 at home last Saturday against the OUA leading Guelph Gryphons but were not able to find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss.

Queen's currently sits in seventh in the OUA standings, but only five points separate seventh from second making regulation victories that much more critical as the season starts to close out.

The return of veteran netminder Stephanie Pascal from injury has added a potent 1-2 punch for the Gaels who are one of the better defensive teams in the OUA. Makenzy Arsenault leads the OUA with a 1.34 GAA while Stephanie Pascal sits fourth with a 1.62 mark.

Each game will be streamed live online at OUA.tv.

Men's Hockey
After a home-and-home split with the UOIT Ridgebacks last weekend the No.7 Queen's Gaels (13-5-0) make the trip north to take on Laurentian (5-11-1) on Friday night followed by a matchup at Nipissing (5-12-0) on Saturday.

The Gaels currently hold down third in the OUA East division but sit just two points behind Carleton with a game in hand. With the Ravens set to face top-seed Ottawa and a tough McGill team, the weekend provides an excellent chance for the Gaels to climb a spot in the standings.

Gaels defenceman and captain Spencer Abraham continues to push for the team record for most points in a career by a defenceman and currently sits at 110 career points just six behind Aaron Fransen's record of 116. Abraham is also 10th all-time in Queen's scoring followed by teammate Slater Doggett whose 107 points place him 11th on the Queen's scoring list.

Each game will be streamed live online at OUA.tv.
